Craig Smith is a founding partner of Opus Search Partners, where he leads engagements in the Higher Education and Investment Management practices. His Higher Education assignments cover information technology, risk management, research administration, human resources, student services, and other administrative and academic functions for Stanford University, New York University, Monroe College, and other institutions nation-wide. Within Investment Management, he leads asset management and risk management searches for investment companies, foundations, and university endowments. Clients include Aetos Capital, LLC, Columbia Investment Management Co., LLC, the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, Stanford Management Company, and the Rockefeller Foundation.

Craig is a member of the Association of University Technology Managers and represents Opus Search Partners at conferences on investment management, risk management, research administration, and technology transfer.

Craig grew up in Montreal and London, graduated summa cum laude and with Honors from Brown University, and earned his Master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. After completing his Ph.D., he became an Assistant Professor at the University of Montreal. He has also taught at Bard College. He left academia to begin a career in the search industry. Before co-founding Opus Partners, he was a Managing Director of Diversified Search.
